Gucci has just opened a bookstore inside Gucci’s Wooster boutique in SoHo, New York City.
The nearly 2.000 publications on sale in the bookstore were selected by Alessandro Michele, Gucci’s creative director superstar and David Strettell, founder of Dashwood Books.
I decided to speak about this not just because I wanted to show these beautiful interiors but mainly because I am thrilled that a fashion brand has decided to sell books in one of its stores again.
Alessandro Michele is an intellectual and his inspiration comes mainly from art and history of custom; I have never had the chance to ask him but it is evident.
Selling and showing the books that inspire the collection and Gucci’s imaginary in their stores is, in my eyes, due.
Years ago, one of the best place where to get photography and fashion cool books in Rome was inside the Armani store, in Via del Babbuino.
I hope that this is only the beginning of a process that reinforces the essential concept that creativity is nourished by culture.
